Trials

"The very trials that threaten to overcome you with discouragement and disaster, will become God's opportunity for the revelation of His grace and glory in your life, as you have never known him before." A.B. Simpson

A friend of mine posted this on Facebook over the weekend. Her husband is working several states away and she is caring for their two young children on her own and works part time. Last week, the A/C went out in their home. It's in the 90's and the humidity is sweltering where she and her children live.

I would have thrown a fit. Really, can't she catch a break?

But, instead, she used her misfortune as an opportunity to share God's glory with others. Yes, God, I'm listening.

Lately I've been feeling overworked and under appreciated. I often forget that I'm not the only stay at home mom in the world... that the boys will grow and this time will pass. And I'm incredibly blessed to be able to stay at home and watch them grow. Not everyone is given this opportunity. And many have raised children why their husbands (or wives) were away fighting so that I may continue to enjoy this blessed life that I lead.

So, this week I'm determined to whine less. I'm determined not to whine under my breath at the allergist's office this afternoon while my almost three year old screams on the way into the office and throws himself on the floor on the way out. Or when our one year old (next week!) throws down his sippy cup, demanding a return of the baby bottle. Or when my husband calls at 5, saying it'll be another long evening and he won't be leaving until 7.

It won't be easy. But with God's strength, it is possible!

Everyone have a great week! Blessings!!!

I think that is awesome. Find the positive in every situation. I have been trying to teach my kids that...easier said than done. Also just being thankful...in all things! Not easily done...but for sure easier with God's help and when we see the big picture through HIS eyes.
Great post.

Lou,

We share those same burdens and we must be thankful in ALL things. God is truly watching out for us and keeping us safe.

You can do it! When my boys were little, I used to allow myself to get so frustrated with them and myself. I literally wore myself out over it. When I finally gave it to the Lord, it was as if the weight of the world was lifted from my shoulders!

No, every day has not been perfect since then. But, I know that God is with me and will help me to get through whatever come my way.

Great post!
