Upate on Dave

Another update on Dave: He received his new heart last week! He is recovering from the transplant well but is still in ICU and considered seriously ill with GI issues. Unfortunately, his heart was not the only organ to sustain damage but was the organ most critically damaged. After removing his old heart, the surgeon reported that it was in very, very bad shape. Dave likely would not have survived long without the transplant.

The heart he received was the gift of a young man who met an untimely end. The range of emotion is wide... from the renewed hope Dave's family has received to the sudden, tragic loss the young man's family has endured. These emotions are not lost on Dave and his family... they know they are blessed while also knowing somewhere a young man has lost his life. Please pray for both of these families whose lives have been so greatly impacted.

The original post is below for those who have no idea what I'm rambling about this morning! :)

Thanks to those who have been praying for Dave.

I posted something a while back about Dave and his condition. He suffers from a rare medical condition in which proteins attack his organs. He has suffered a great deal of heart and GI damage as a result and has been in the hospital since April awaiting a heart transplant. He and his wife Becky have been family friends for years, we've known them since my sister and their oldest son dated in high school, many years back. Dave and Becky have two sons and grandchildren.

Dave was to receive a new heart weeks back, was prepped for surgery with his room packed when the donor heart crashed prior to harvesting. A few days later, he suffered from an intestinal blockage and was removed temporarily from the recipient list. He was returned to the list after recovery, only to have another setback yesterday-- another intestinal blockage.

Please pray for him and his family. Please also pray that God will give his doctors wisdom as they work on a new treatment plan. And pray that he'll be able to return to the recipient list soon.

Thank you! Blessings!!!

Praying for him! I remember when I used to work in the hospital, it was always tough to ask family members who just lost a loved one, to ask them if they were willing to donate the loved one's organs. I didn't have fear in a way to ask them, knowing that the time factor is critical to harvest those organs...in order to sustain another precious life needing one.

Life is indeed precious and may we remember to spend each day living it, loving the Lord and others.

Your comment is very much appreciated this morning. It surely blessed me. You're not preaching and even if you were, I would have loved it the same. I thank you for your "footprints"...Blessings to you sister.

Oh Lou, God bless both families. I pray Dave's body will receive this heart in Jesus' Name and that he will live a nice long life.

Bless you!
